Preparation and Prosecution of Applications for Copyright Registration
A copyright examiner does not engage in rigorous examination that is routinely performed by examiners in the Patent and Trademark Office, but, instead, confirms that the work ostensibly merits copyright protection and that the deposit comports with regulations. Occasionally, an application is rejected by a copyright examiner; if a response is anticipated, the examiner will assign a control number which must be included in the response, if any. Registration is usually granted for properly submitted copyright applications. |
